AX Brothers,

Last week I sent out some detailed information on the annual AX Derby Day events.
Below is a link you can use to donate to the Derby Day campaign. No donation is too small. Be a part of this annual event.

I can remember doing Derby Day events on the HUB lawn. We had frozen fish, Co-ed’s were riding on our backs trying to know-off other coeds using the fish as clubs. The fish didn’t work well as they thawed!

Do any of you remember the black, felt, derby hats? I still have one. I think it was the first time I had girls chasing me all over campus. I remember I purchased extra derbies because I liked getting caught by Penn State Women. One special coed did catch me and still has be corralled 52 years later!

Brothers, I have to say that Derby Days hasn’t changed much in past 50+ years except now, as alumni, you can support the actives. Send them something!

All donations are given to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Brother Huntsman conducts an annual June event at his Foundation honoring chapters that have raised over $20,000, and that’s our goal. We were successful last year raising $23,500.00.

If clicking on this link does not work, then copying and pasting this: http://www.derbychallenge.org/psuderbydays into your browser will. You may have to copy or type the link into your web page, whatever works, get’er done and support the annual Derby Day’s here at Penn State.

If you have problems or want to talk to the Derby Days Chairperson contact Bryan Ryder at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

As a side note, I will be on a second “Honey Moon” in NZ and Australia starting April 5th. Sandy and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary last year and we decided to travel to the “land down under”. I plan to do a little fishing in New Zealand, attend an Australian Military Parachute Rigger Reunion and see some friends.
