Brothers,

I hope this email finds all of you in good spirits. My name is Evan Ek, and I am the 2014 Head THON Chairperson for the Alpha Chi Chapter of Sigma Chi. I am reaching out to you in hopes of your support of our brotherhood as we approach the 2014 Penn State Panhellenic Dance Marathon weekend.

I am aware that you are all Alpha Chi Chapter alumni, so you may already know a fair amount about the Penn State Dance Marathon. If not, THON can be best described as a yearlong fundraising effort that ultimately benefits children and their families as they battle pediatric cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised more than $101 million for The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital, making THON the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. The funds raised go to provide innovative cancer research and offset the cost of treatment that the family's insurance does not cover. Last year alone THON raised a record-breaking $12.3 million For The Kids.

Recently, our chapter has had great success in our fundraising efforts towards THON. For the past three years, alongside our paired sorority Alpha Omicron Pi, Sigma Chi has been one of the top fundraising Greek organizations. Last year, we were able to raise $239,937.27, which put us at #4 among over 300 organizations participating in THON. We are hoping to again be one of the top fundraising organizations for 2014. We also hope to again make the highest tier within THON, which this year requires a minimum of $245,000 to be raised. This status allows us to have direct correspondence with the THON Executive Committee, making the year's fundraising efforts much more effective.

I want to ask you to consider making a donation to our cause and join us in our fight against pediatric cancer. There are two main avenues in which you can donate.

If you would like to donate online, you can donate directly to our organization by clicking here and scrolling down to the “Donate Now” button.

There is also the option of sending a direct donation via check (payable to the Penn State Dance Marathon with Sigma Chi PSU in the memo line) to our fraternity house at the following address:
