Alpha Chi chapter welcomed our latest House Director, Marian Hamby, to our home for the fall semester 2008. Marian (she likes to be called 'Mom') is an experienced house director who came to us from Springfield, OH. She has acted as 'Mom' for at least seven other fraternity and sorority chapter houses ranging from Florida to Ohio.

Mom is a perpetually happy and optimistic person who has quickly bonded with our brotherhood. Her role with us is another chapter in an extremely interesting life. Mom has two sons, both very successful in business and the military. She was a certified accountant for nearly 40 years and enjoyed a very successful career in floral arrangements. She is also an active member of her church and several women's auxiliaries. Mom is also a master gardener and has added a lady's touch by placing floral arrangements around the chapter house.

Marian told us that she was excited about coming to State College and extending her influence to our chapter. Marian's arrival heralds a new era for the fraternity system at Penn State with a return to more traditional values. We also view this as another compelling sign of Alpha Chi's leadership on the Penn State campus. If you get back to Penn State this spring, we urge you to stop by the chapter and to introduce yourself to our new 'Mom' at Penn State.
