As the new President of the Alpha Chi House Corporation, I wanted to reach out and share some exciting news regarding the Chapter House.

Our new housemother is on site and settling in to her duties. Marian "Mom" Hamby is a 25-year professional housemother and has recently moved to State College from Ohio. Her sons are all in the military and she thoroughly enjoys having her "new kids" around to keep her company.

We need to dispel some housing myths regarding the current dues for Sigma Chi. Presently; the cost to live in the fraternity house is $3,950 per semester. These costs include food, parking and all utilities. We have done extensive research and benchmarking on living costs in State College and feel that our dues are extremely competitive in the current marketplace. Apartment rental costs do not include food or utilities. Parking is usually an additional cost as well.
All efforts are made to ensure safety conditions at the chapter house exceed that of living in a converted house or an apartment. For example, Penn Towers, an apartment complex downtown, had a fire recently and the building did not have a sprinkler system. Every room is Sigma Chi is equipped with sprinklers and smoke detectors. Our annual code inspection was completed in October. All measures are being taken to make sure the house is up to date and surpasses all of the code requirements.

We have added additional services this year to handle day-to-day maintenance and ensure the house is in top condition. Frat Fix, Inc. is on call 24/7 for any maintenance issues. Additionally, we have added a trash patrol to keep the property spotless and a snow removal service to clear sidewalks and walkways during inclement weather.
Beginning this spring semester, all future billings will be issued through Penn State University. This program will be a great resource for both the House Corporation and the actives. The University is equipped to streamline our billing and collection process to ensure that our chapter runs smoothly.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
